About

My name is Heather and I hold a degree in Evolutionary Sports Nutrition from Western Washington University. I was a varsity collegiate rower at Western for four years, where I earned two NCAA National Championships and was voted All-American my senior year. My interest in nutrition was sparked when I realized I had no idea how/what to eat in order to fuel two-a-day practices. From that, I took it upon myself to learn everything I could about sports nutrition and optimizing performance. Thankfully, I was introduced to the concept of paleo nutrition from Loren Cordain’s book The Paleo Diet for Athletes. Making the transition to a grain, legume and dairy free diet has changed my life, as an athlete and my overall health in general. I feel very fortunate to have learned about this way of eating/lifestyle and have made it my personal mission to teach other athletes about the importance of food. I am also a graduate of the Institute for the Psychology of Eating and am a certified psychology of eating coach. I am currently traveling and building my sports nutrition and psychology of eating consulting business OPENutrition. If you are looking for a nutrition coach, or want to host a seminar at your local gym, get in touch!  I hope this site is a great resource for anyone who is interested in optimizing their performance + eating well everyday. Thanks for visiting!
